KITF: New Routes and New Impressions

Tomorrow, on 23 April, Almaty will be hosting the biggest tourist exhibition event in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, KITF 2009 Fair
Participants of the KITF 2009 event include several hundreds of exhibiting companies from 35 countries and several thousands of the tourist business and associated spheres. Five countries will be announced as new routes for the Kazakhstanis. For the first time, companies from Mexico, Japan, Jordan, Poland and Slovakia will arrive in Kazakhstan. The three latter countries will be represented by official government stands to be used by their national tourist agencies.

KITF is a bright demonstration of original stands and special presentations and workshops, performances by national teams and tasting of culinary art of the exhibiting countries. Traditionally, the event will bring together local resorts and health centres, hotels and travel agencies, as well as national stands from 15 countries willing to draw Kazakhstan tourists.

Exhibitors of the  KITF tourist fair come from the following 35 countries: Bulgaria, China, Czech Republic, Vietnam, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mauritius, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Seychelles, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.

The keynote of KITF 2009 is presentation of our country which is going to host in early October in Astana the 18th General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO). Kazakhstan became the first post-Soviet country honoured to do this, and it will undoubtedly provide a real opportunity to claim to be a tourism hub. On 6-8 October, top managers of tourist ministries and agencies from 154 UNWTO countries will arrive in Astana.

The tourist potential of Kazakhstan will be presented by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, departments of tourism, physical culture and sport of all 14 oblasts and two national cities: Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Atyrau, Eastern Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, Western Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanai, Kyzylorda, Mangystau, Pavlodar, Northern Kazakhstan, Southern Kazakhstan Oblasts, and the cities of Astana and Almaty.

The busy KITF 2009 agenda includes presentations, workshops, various quizzes (e.g., a trip to Baikunur Launching Site will be raffled), and other educational and festive events for visitors and participants – all detailed by hours. Notably, workshops include a lot of presentations by tour operators from China, Greece, Switzerland and Thailand.

It is worth mentioning that KITF is included into the UNWTO annual action plan. KITF is organised by exhibitions companies Iteca (Kazakhstan) and ITE (UK) jointly with the Kazakhstan Ministry of Tourism and Sports and Almaty City Akimat.

KITF will become a real Kazakhstan show of the hospitality industry: at the same time, Iteca will arrange exhibitions HOREX, CleanExpo СА and KazRealty in the next-door pavilions. Topics of these projects are “Everything for Hotels, Restaurants and Supermarkets”, “The Industry of Cleanliness”, and “Real Estate and Investment”, respectively. See enclosed more details about those events.

What new air flights have been opened lately? What are the latest trends in tourism? Are there any discounts and can travel expenses be reduced? Are there any new economy flights? You will get answers to these questions at the international tourist fair KITF 2009, to be held in Almaty on 23-25 April, in Pavilions 10 and 11.
