In his letter of welcome, Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, says: “It is encouraging that, each year, AstanaLeisure’s rate of growth remains unabated, expanding the horizons for our country’s tourists. In advance of the 7th Winter Asian Games, the main host cities of which are Astana and Almaty, holding a tourism exhibition in the capital of the country will allow visitors and exhibitors to promote their tourist resources in the tourism industry market. Exhibiting companies will have the opportunity to not only demonstrate their tourism products, but also strengthen their position in Kazakhstan’s market. I have no doubt that AstanaLeisure 2010 will promote the formation of a positive image of our country and strengthen its international authority.”
Zoltán Somogyi, Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), stresses in his welcome letter the importance of the exhibition: “Last year’s AstanaLeisure was arranged to coincide with the 18th session of the UNWTO General Assembly, held at the high level in the national capital of Kazakhstan. This year, the tourism exhibition is to be held on the eve of the 2011 Winter Asian Games. Event tourism is know to be one of the most powerful catalyst to bring in a good deal of tourism resources. I this respect, I would like to mention that such specialised tourist events as AstanaLeisure are well-timed and important for enhancing the tourism capacity of Kazakhstan aimed to welcome foreign guests during the 2011 Winter Asian Games. The Games will allow them to learn about the unique tourism opportunities of Kazakhstan, the country which possesses a huge tourism capacity due tp its location in the heart of Eurasia, a vast and versatile area, a rich cultural and historic heritage, traditions and the celebrated hospitality of its people.”
The exhibition will present about 50 companies from Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, and Ukraine.
Kazakhstan’s regions will occupy an important place at the exhibition: hotels, boarding houses and health resorts will be presented individually, both at the stands of regional administrations and the administrations of the cities of Astana and Almaty. As for international exhibitors, along with the familiar national stands, travel agencies and tour operators for leading tourist destinations have been invited to participate.
The central stand at the exhibition will be occupied by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and Ukraine will participate with national stands.
The latest news about the exhibition is the participation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine, and the return of Thailand with a national stand. The exhibition will also feature companies such as Carioca Travel (Brazil), Sanya Edem (China), Salute Africa (South Africa) and others. At Astana Leisure 2010, airlines will be presented by the national carrier Air Astana, SCAT Air Company and Turkish Airlines.
The exhibition’s business programme will include a seminar and presentation of new hotels and tours in Thailand for the 2010-2011 season. At the same time as Astana Leisure, the Astana Tourism association will give an info-tour of hotels in Astana, and will decide the results of the “Brand of Quality 3S: Standards of Hospitality in the Capital” competition.
Astana Leisure 2010 will take place on 28-30 September in the Korme Exhibition Centre
