In his welcome letter to the exhibitors, Temirkhan Dosmukhambetov, Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, says: “Each year, KITF welcomes more international exhibitors, and grows in popularity with representatives of the tourism business of foreign countries and domestic tour operators. Statistics eloquently demonstrate the development of the exhibition and serve as proof of its even greater potential.”
Since its launch, the number of exhibitors at KITF has increased nine-fold and the total exhibition area 27-fold: from 300m² in the Ankara hotel (now the InterContinental Almaty) to 8000m² in the modern Atakent Exhibition Centre. At the same time, a separate pavilion is devoted to national tourism organisations, where a central position is occupied by the stand of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, and regional tourism offices.
KITF 2010 will bring together about 500 companies from 36 countries. The interest in the event from many international companies and organisations once again confirms the strengthening of Kazakhstan’s positive image abroad and its involvement in the global tourism industry. Sixteen national tourism organisations plan to participate in Kazakhstan’s main international travel show. This year, the exhibition will feature the national stands of China, Czech Republic, Georgia, Greece, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and UAE.
The organisers of KITF are confident that the event reflects the trends of the international and domestic tourism industry. The rapid development of the exhibition is most clearly shown by the tremendous achievements in the promotion of Kazakhstan as a tourism product.
KITF can justifiably be described as the most visually striking show in the list of exhibitions held in Kazakhstan. Through the efforts of the organisers and exhibitors, on all four day of the fair, the pavilions of Atakent Exhibition Centre present colourful and original exhibitions which reveal the world of exotic travel.
Zoltan Somogyi, Executive Director of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), says in his welcome letter: “Tourism continues to be one of the world’s largest, fastest growing industries and the dominant service sector. In recent years, Kazakhstan has made significant progress in promoting its image as an attractive, tourism-friendly and dynamic Eurasian destination. KITF is the largest international tourism and travel exhibition in Kazakhstan. International travel fairs such as KITF continue to be an important tool for building and strengthening business relations. UNWTO looks forward to continuing its support of Kazakhstan and all of the 154 member states in promoting the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism.”
Two other exhibitions, organised by Iteca and related to the hospitality industry, will run alongside KITF in a neighbouring pavilion: Horex, the Central Asian International Hotel, Restaurant & Supermarket Exhibition, and CleanExpo Central Asia. Information about these events can be found in the press pack or on the websites: www.horex.iteca.kz and www.cleanexpo.kz.
